Summer at RAINBOW RESORT

ENJOY NORTHWESTERN MINNESOTA'S SUMMER DAYS while you take advantage of one of the state's prime fishing resorts. Explore our private hiking trails, or sun yourself on our beach. Discover the delight of disc golf on our newly opened disc golf course. (See our course map.) Visit the 40,000 acre Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge (right on our northern border) or nearby Itasca State Park, where you can wade across the headwaters of the mighty Mississippi River. Take advantage of our new recreation center with game room, seating area, showers, restrooms, and self service laundry. And when you're all worn out from having fun, join us for camaraderie, a bite to eat, and something to drink in our comfortable lodge. If you catch your second wind, you might want to take in an evening of entertainment in nearby Detroit Lakes or Park Rapids, or make a date with "Lady Luck" at the Shooting Star Casino down the road...

...Leave your stress at home—come relax with us at the lake!

Simple Pleasures of Nature

Most of the area immediately surrounding Rainbow Resort is undeveloped forest land with an abundance of wildlife. There are numerous trails for hiking, biking, jogging and enjoying nature. Rainbow Resort is next to the northern border of the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge. The more than 40,000 acres of Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge provides an exceptional opportunity for observing nature.

In addition, Itasca State Park is within a half hour drive. Itasca State Park is Minnesota's first state park and has more than 30,000 acres. This is where the Mississippi River begins its journey to the Gulf of Mexico. There are miles of hiking, biking, and skiing trails and beautiful stands of Norway Pine.

Fishing

RAINBOW RESORT is located on the north shore of Little Bemidji Lake, with access to three lakes by boat. Little Bemidji Lake is one of the first lakes in the headwaters of the Ottertail River. Boaters can travel into neighboring Big Elbow Lake and Johnny Cake Lake, which combine to give more than 1,600 acres for fishing or simply enjoying nature. The three lakes are home to a variety of fish including Walleye, Northern Pike, Largemouth Bass, Crappie, Bullhead, Perch, Bluegill, Sunfish, and other pan fish. Little Bemidji Lake is small enough to be safe for use by small fishing boats on all but the windiest of days. This is lake country, and there are many other lakes accessible for fishing. Ice fish/spearing houses are also available for rental in the winter season.

Hunting

There are thousands of acres of public land for hunting, with numerous public trails and roads. Our area offers some of the finest grouse hunting in Minnesota. Ducks are abundant on the ponds and lakes. In November, we are a popular destination for deer hunters as well.
